I love soda and when I heard about Galco’s I got extremely excited. Galco’s is a soda pop shop near Highland Park that carries a plethora of soda. Soda from all over the world, soda of different flavors, varieties, and bottle shapes. When I walked into the store it was like walking back into time. Judging from the paint color I don’t think the store remodeled since the 80′s. Not tacky at all. Just lots of memories and character.

I tried Curiousity Cola, Sparky’s Root Beer, and Bundaberg Australian Root Beer. Curious cola was damn pricey but really good. The cola is botanically brewed, sweet but not overly sweet, hints of ginger and vanilla. Curious no more! Spark’y root beer tasted very traditional. Sparky was very smooth, sweet and had soft spice flavors. Bundaberg came in adorable packaging (that I paid premium for). The soda was a bottle with a pull tab which gave it that old school touch. Bundaberg was a little stronger in licorice taste and earthier than Sparky’s. The taste was really crisp and had a nice after taste bite to it. Too bad my Aussie root beer didn’t come with an Aussie.

Absolutely love the Hershey’s chocolate bars wrapped in that vintage look. There were a lot of candy that made me reminisce the days of growing up. The best candy memory had to be the little cartons of cigarette gum. You know! The “Lucky Lights” It looked like a cigarette and when you blew on it powder sugar would burst out. Horrible advertisement for kids now that I think about it but way cool when you’re a kid.

Honestly, I don’t have a problem with boyfriends carrying the girlfriend’s bag but only when needed. As in, bathroom stops, trying on a jacket, putting on a jacket, getting ready to fight another girl. You know, the normal stuff. When you make your boyfriend carry your purse just because you’re lazy then you’re dehumanizing him. Next time, carry a smaller bag.
